Altered water relations, selective nutrient uptake, and reduced Na+ flux make Halopeplis perfoliata an obligate halophyte

چکیده

Halopeplis perfoliata, a succulent halophyte of coastal marshy habitats, was grown in greenhouse to study its adaptive responses terms growth, osmoregulation, and N-metabolism following one-month exposure salinity (0, 150, 300, 600 mmol L-1 NaCl). Biomass optimal 150 NaCl with unaltered malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. On the other hand, biomass remained comparable non-saline control some increase MDA 300 NaCl. Osmotic potential (?S ) maintained up that correlated an succulence (SC) lower water deficit (WD), whereas sap ?S lowest along SC high WD. Sodium level gradually increased shoot higher than root. Potassium deficiency not observed salinity. Both soluble sugars nitrogen isotope (?15N) transiently Hence, modulations relation, selective nutrient uptake, controlled Na+ flux appear important for tolerance H. perfoliata.

Nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes under different water regimes

Drought is a serious environmental stress limiting growth and productivity in peanut and other crops. Nutrient uptake of peanut is reduced under drought condition, which reduces yield. The objectives of this study were to investigate nutrient uptake of peanut genotypes in response to drought and to estimate the relationship between nutrient uptake and peanut yield under different water regi...

Nutrient Relations: Translocation and Transport

Figure 1. Bazzania trilobata and other bryophytes growing together. Note the dead tissue in the lower right part of the clump, where nutrient sinks can be mobilized to supply growing apical tissues. Such clumps can play a significant role in the distribution of forest nutrients. Photo by Michael Lüth. One of the most poorly understood abilities of bryophytes by "vascular" botanists is the abili...
